Matt Horne, PE | Principal, Team Leader
Matt Horne, PE has been promoted to principal at Schaefer, one of Cincinnati’s largest engineering firms. With eight years of experience at Schaefer and sixteen years in the industry, he has led some of the firms more complex projects, providing smart structural engineering design on the new downtown Kroger + 1010 on the Rhine, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s The Otto M. Budig Theater, John Glenn Columbus International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC), and the upcoming Cincinnati Ballet Margaret + Michael Valentine Center for Dance. Matt also serves as a team leader and mentor for a geographically dispersed team.
Chris Buckreus, PE | Principal, Team Leader
Chris Buckreus, PE has been promoted to principal at Schaefer, one of Cincinnati’s largest engineering firms. In addition to contributing to the firm’s innovation and automation initiative as principal, Chris manages a group of structural engineers as a team leader, and delivers smart structural engineering design on local and national projects. He represents and advocates for Schaefer, making decisions that protect + enhance the firm’s stake in the community.
Chris Harper, PE, SE | Principal
Chris Harper, PE, SE has been promoted to principal at Schaefer. He has 23 years of experience providing smart structural engineering designs for the local community and across the country. While he has a long history of diverse project experience in office, hospitality, medical, retail, and mid/high-rise structures, he also has proven design excellence in custom projects and repurposing historic buildings. Schaefer, a 44 year old structural engineering firm with a national footprint, opened its Phoenix office in 2016, and continues to grow and strengthen its commitment to Phoenix by hiring local talent and increasing its community impact.
Lara Stroup, PE, LEED AP BD+C | Project Manager
Lara Stroup was promoted from project engineer to project manager. With ten years of experience in the industry, she is an asset to our Columbus, Ohio office. Also in the past year, she earned her LEED AP BD+C credential, making her a resource on green building design.
Andrew Barone, PE | Project Manager
Andrew Barone was also promoted from project engineer to project manager. He joined our Columbus, Ohio office in 2019 and brought seven years of structural engineering experience to the firm.
John Baucco | Project Engineer
John Baucco was promoted from design engineer to project engineer. He has been a collaborative, engaged structural engineer in our Columbus, Ohio office. He recently joined Schaefer’s Culture Team, leading internal activities and events that contribute to Schaefer being a Best Firm to Work For.
Zac Balhorn | Project Engineer
Zac Balhorn was also promoted from design engineer to project engineer. He has continued to accept greater responsibilities on projects since joining our firm two years ago. He also serves on Schaefer’s Culture Team where he contributes fresh ideas which enhance our internal community.
