In 2018, our employees continued to lead the field through their collective contributions, continuous improvement and empowered leadership. We recognized many of our team members internally; here are some notable achievements we would like to share.
John Ashbaugh, PE | Vice President
John Ashbaugh, PE joins our leadership team as a Vice President. John has been at Schaefer for 23 years and has played an integral role in leading our industrial projects. His knowledge and experience has allowed him to mentor many of our engineers. He will continue to lead our teams and oversee operations in his new role.
Diane Ramirez | Designer
Diane Ramirez
has been promoted to the role of Designer at Schaefer. She has worked on our modeling team for the past 11 years. Her expertise and ability to manage projects from start to finish has been a great asset to the engineers working with her.
Bill Moster | Designer
Bill Moster
has also been promoted to a Designer within our modeling team. Bill has worked at Schaefer for over 30 years and has served as a lead modeler on over 800 projects. His passion for his work is evident to everyone who works alongside him, and he has spearheaded multiple innovative efforts in our modeling department.
Jay Benzing | Senior Modeler
Jay Benzing was promoted to a senior modeler at Schaefer. Jay boasts over 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry and has worked on variety of structures across our markets. He also led and developed our cold-formed steel shop drawing process.
Chris Hahnel | Project Engineer
Chris Hahnel was promoted from design engineer to project engineer. Chris joined Schaefer over two years ago, and in his time here he has brought incredible dedication and energy to his projects. He has also served on the in-house event planning team where he contributes fresh ideas which enhance our company’s culture.
Phil Niekamp | Project Engineer
Phil Niekamp was promoted from design engineer to project engineer. Since joining the Schaefer team over three years ago, Phil has assumed immediate responsibility on projects, as well as leading in-house programs like the Schaefer 100 (fitness competition). Phil is a collaborative, team player who deeply cares about the success of every project he works on.

Lauren Lonce | Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
Lauren Lonce is now a Senior Certified Professional. This certification recognizes professionals who develop strategies, lead the HR function, foster influence in the community, analyze performance metrics, and align HR strategies to organizational goals.
Nate Baugh, CPA | Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) Exam
Nate Baugh passed the Step 1 Exam for the Certified Information Technology Professional. This credential is designed for CPAs, giving them the unique ability to bridge between business and technology while meeting the strict requirements for a CPA license, as well as additional training and experience in IT assurance, risk, security and privacy, analytics and technology. Nate plans to receive his official certification in Spring 2019.
