In the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, 16 historic building renovations and four new infill buildings make up the Willkommen mixed-use development. The wood structures range across four project sites, from three to five stories, and in studio to three bedroom units.
The development is part of a larger affordable housing strategy. Of the 163 units, 88 are for those who earn 50-80% of the area’s median income and 75 are market-rate.
The structures are visually unique; the corbeling pattern in the masonry required an intricate grid of steel plates, beams and columns behind the street elevation façade.
The historic buildings are Enterprise Green Communities and 75% of the new infill buildings achieved LEED Silver.
