what has been your favorite project?
With close to 20 years at Schaefer, I have plenty of challenging and high profile projects to choose from, but I am currently most proud of the four story Candlewood Suites at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This is currently the largest cross-laminated timber (CLT) building in the USA, was designed in accordance with the Department of Defense Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings including Design of Buildings to Resist Progressive Collapse, and was reviewed by the United States Army. This project is a launching point for larger and more complex CLT structures.
