Some projects boast unique histories – the Mt. Healthy Branch Library was previously a CVS Pharmacy.
The adaptive reuse project transformed a retail space into a civic space serving the neighborhood in a new way. The facility quadruples the branch’s previous location giving the space needed for expanded programming, meeting spaces + larger bathrooms. The new location also has improved accessibility and drive-thru service to better serve its neighbors.
Schaefer provided structural engineering designs to support the transformation including supporting new rooftop units, new operable partitions, new lintels + a new entry canopy. The team also verified existing roof framing for the addition of new skylights + hanging architectural features. New wall openings were added for the library’s book return dropbox.
