Schaefer completed the structural design for the temporary March Madness Music Festival main stage, the Tipoff Tailgate stage and entrance/information/signage structures for 2023’s March Madness Music Festival at Discovery Green in Houston, Texas. The three-day music event, that complements the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament, hosted performers like Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Little Big Town + more.
The March Madness Music Festival main stage roof, 60 ft wide x 52 ft deep and 50 ft tall adjoined by a 30 ft wide video bay, was constructed with individual custom aluminum trusses supported by steel scaffold lifting bays + video walls. The Tipoff Tailgate stage consisted of 24 ft wide scaffolding supporting offstage video on each side of a pre-engineered temporary roof structure. The structures were erected for the March 31 – April 2 festival and promptly disassembled the following day.
