Peoria Public Library System Main Library Renovation

Schaefer was the structural engineer for the first phase of the renovation to Peoria Public Library System’s Main Library — its first renovation in 30 years.

Renovations were focused on creating a cohesive indoor + outdoor spaces. Inside, the team refreshed the two-story entry by updating the grand staircase and adding a skylight. In addition, restrooms, community rooms + HVAC system were upgraded. Outside, the team designed supports for fencing + gates as well as shade structures for the children’s courtyard.

The library remained open to the public throughout the renovation. The project was part of Peoria’s ten-year capital improvement rogram.
