In accordance with phase II of Miami University’s master plan, a new equestrian building with connector to the existing horse stables was constructed on the site of Miami’s existing outdoor arena. Schaefer was the engineer of record for the project, providing structural design for the indoor arena’s pre-engineered metal building foundations + spectator area.

Foundation design was unique due to the elevated site above the flood plain. The new space has the capacity for 200 spectators on aluminum bleachers with access to a new restroom building. The project was designed for LEED Silver. Construction was completed on an occupied site.
