Grace College Dr. Dane A. Miller Science Complex
Winona Lake, Indiana

Schaefer was the structural engineer for the updates made to Grace College’s Dr. Dane A. Miller Science Complex. The existing three-story building, home of the Department of Science + Mathematics, was renovated, including the lobby that now connects it to an addition. The new space stands two-stories and was constructed with steel framing, cold-formed steel wall framing, brick veneer + aluminum curtainwall. It includes classrooms, laboratories + study spaces. The overall facility is meant to encourage collaboration between students + staff members.

The team also designed the necessary support for a steel platform holding a large air handling unit + 30 ft tall antenna tower placed on the existing building’s roof.
