Deer Park Community City School District Amity Elementary
Deer Park, Ohio
Deer Park Community City School District’s Amity Elementary, built in 1907, hadn’t had a major upgrade since the 1960’s. The project consisted of renovating 40,000 sq ft, mostly classroom and ADA updates, and constructing an addition to house a new gym, auditorium, and main entry, which took new security philosophies into consideration. The addition was constructed from masonry load bearing walls and cold-formed steel framing with veneer.
The K-6 school stayed open throughout the construction process, and renovation activities that would severely upset daily learning activities were scheduled around holidays and breaks.
