Leads Schaefer’s cold-formed steel framing specialty design services

Primary project engineer for the award-winning Vandalia Christian Life Center, recognized for excellence in insulating concrete forms construction

My favorite project to date has been the Vandalia Christian Life Center. The project replaced an existing sanctuary space with a new auditorium-style sanctuary along with an expanded atrium space, reception room, classrooms and offices. There were many unique challenges throughout design and construction due to the existing building conditions, the large clear spans inside the new sanctuary, and the geometry of the exterior walls. The project was the 2nd place winner in the light commercial division at the ICF Builder Awards.

While working within a variety of markets, I have developed a specialty in cold-formed steel framing. Over the past three years, I have helped to lead the development of Schaefer’s specialty cold-formed steel services, working directly with local and regional framing contractors to provide engineering for delegated design items on a variety of project types including floor and roof framing, load bearing walls, framed openings, shear walls and strap bracing, non-load bearing exterior walls, and interior walls and soffits.
