One of our newest employees and already making us look great. Welcome to the team, Jordan!
1. Why you chose Schaefer.
I chose Schaefer because I had admired the brand from a distance for some time. I had already been working in the A/E/C industry, and I saw the firm as a leader, pushing the conventional boundaries of marketing and graphic design. The Schaefer brand captured my attention and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I also heard great things about the culture, work/life balance and the people.
2. Why you chose to be a Graphic Designer.
I have always loved communicating visually, even as a kid. I would design place cards and menus for our family Christmas dinners, just because I wanted another outlet for my creativity. It became clear after graduating from The Ohio State University that design was my passion, and I have followed that passion ever since. As a graphic designer, I have the opportunity to communicate ideas in bold, fun and memorable ways. In today’s fast-paced culture, most people only have time to digest information in moments – I love being able to help shape those moments.
3. Favorite sports and teams.
I’m a diehard Buckeyes fan – my friends can attest that I get pretty loud during OSU games! My favorite sports to watch are football and basketball, but I prefer college sports over professional sports.
4. Why you chose to work/live in Columbus.
I’m a Columbus native, and most of my immediate family and close friends live here as well. I appreciate how diverse the city is – we have suburbs, downtown neighborhoods, great parks, college football, and awesome food/shopping!
5. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My greatest inspiration is my late grandfather. He was a smart, courageous, and humble man. He fought Parkinson’s Disease for the latter half of his life, and he taught me that your circumstances don’t have to define you. When I think that things in my life are difficult, I remember how he persevered and continued to have a smile on his face.
6. My most prized possession (outside of family and friends).
I’m a very nostalgic person, so I love looking through boxes of old photos at my grandma’s house.
7. What are your hobbies?
I spent 16 years studying classical ballet, jazz, and modern and contemporary dance, so I love to take classes whenever I can. I also enjoy making time to relax, drink tea and read books.
8. What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?
Not sure if this qualifies as “extreme,” but I got to ride on a donkey through the mountains of Greece. It was an awesome experience!
9. What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I can’t handle when people slurp food or drinks.
10. What’s your signature dish to cook for family and friends?
I make some mean s’mores brownies.
