The Ohio State University’s goals were to renovate the interior of Enarson Classroom Building for the new Office of International Affairs. Schaefer performed an Ohio Building Code Chapter 34 Existing Buildings and Structures lateral force resisting system assessment to evaluate the safety of the building. Schaefer’s design team also designed and detailed new punched openings into the existing exterior walls, and reviewed existing closed openings to confirm or deny if they could be reopened and reused as windows.
