what inspired you to pursue structural engineering?

I don’t really have an “aha” moment that made me decide on structural engineering- it was more of a process. In high school I took a few CAD design classes + was inspired by my instructor’s passion for engineering, and he really encouraged us to consider engineering as a profession. I was considering both mechanical + civil engineering options at the time, so I set my sights on attending Manhattan College which offered both programs. I was introduced to a structural engineering professor there who would profoundly influence my life in many ways, even until today. He was the reason I finally decided to pursue structural engineering.

why did you choose to join schaefer?

Initially, I was attracted to the diversity of projects. I am very lucky to have been exposed to a large variety of different projects prior to joining Schaefer, so it was very important for me to continue having those opportunities. After talking with some of the folks at Schaefer during the interview process, it became very clear that it was a special group of people as well. So, in short it was the projects + people!
