why did you choose to join schaefer?
I job shadowed Schaefer Columbus team members while in college and I instantly fell in love with the firm. The culture and people make it stand out from others, and I was impressed. There are so many experts in different types of materials and building types, and everyone is very helpful, no matter how small or big the question may be. I’m really proud that I work for Schaefer.
what inspired you to pursue structural engineering?
Growing up, I knew I’d pursue a career in this field. Once I realized the differences between architecture and structural engineering, I knew that I wanted to become a structural engineer to help solve the problems that architects face. Understanding how forces are transmitted through a structure, and designing a load path for them to safely be transmitted into the ground, is the magic that works behind the scenes in any building, which I find to be super fascinating!
