Paul joins our entertainment team from Liverpool, New York.

1. What inspired you to pursue structural engineering?

I enjoy solving problems.

2. Why did you choose to join Schaefer?

I’ve worked with engineers at Schaefer for many years with previous employers and they’ve always been one of the best firms working in engineering for entertainment. When I had the opportunity I was excited to join them.

3. Favorite thing to do off the clock?

I like to spend time outside when I’m not working.

4. Favorite sports and teams?

You’ll see me rooting for the Boston Red Sox for baseball + Pittsburg Steelers for football.

5. What keeps you motivated at work?

Being able to work on multiple projects and the opportunity to continue learning keeps me motivated.

6. What’s your favorite thing about working in this industry?

My favorite thing about working in the entertainment market is that it brings me in contact with a lot of interesting people and projects.

7. What are your hobbies?

I enjoy hiking, kayaking and playing board games.

8. What has been your biggest professional growth moment?

A conversation I had with an engineer who at the time was working for Schaefer at a trade show about 15 years ago. He helped convince me I should go back to school to get an engineering degree and then my PE.

9. What opportunities have helped you grow your career?

A lot of the opportunities I’ve had are because of people I’ve been introduced to along the way and support from employers to continue developing.

10. What market/material is your specialty and why?

I work within the entertainment primarily designing rigging systems. I’ve been involved in theater + live entertainment for much of my life and have found a way I can combine engineering with that.
