1. Favorite thing to do off the clock?

Spending time with my girlfriend Cara hiking around the parks in Cincinnati, exploring more of the city’s beautiful Catholic churches, or catching a country concert at one of the many unique venues in the area!

2. Why you chose to work/live in Cincinnati?

Cincinnati is amazing! I fell in love with the culture, parks + atmosphere here when I started school at University of Cincinnati. I’m also involved with the vibrant Catholic community here + love being able to share my faith with other young adults in the city!

3. Meet my family.

I’m the oldest of four kids, with all three of my younger siblings (Matt, Kristin + Josh) now in school at University of Cincinnati. My parents (Suzanne + James) still live at home in the Bluegrass, and we love going home to visit + enjoy the beautiful countryside!

4. What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?

Backpacking in the Chugach Mountains in Alaska this past summer. We ran into near-freezing rain + strong winds in Crow’s Pass in late July and then had to scale a dangerous rockslide en route to a summit bid for South Suicide Peak later in the week.

5. What’s on your bucket list?

I want to backpack in the Alps, Andes + New Zealand.

6. What’s your signature dish to cook for family and friends?

I love to make homemade pepperoni pizza with my grandma’s dough recipe!

7. Quote to live by.

“To live without faith, without a heritage to defend, without battling constantly for truth, is not to live but to ‘get along’; we must never just ‘get along’” – Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

8. Fun fact about yourself.

My dad’s side of the family is part Portuguese + had ancestors who lived on the island of Maui after emigrating from the island of Madeira, Portugal.

9. If you could design a structure anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to design a building on one of the remote jungle islands of Hawaii (Mostly for the site visits ;).

10. What industry book have you read that has been most helpful to your career?

I haven’t read many books by authors in the Civil Engineering industry, but I did enjoy a structural engineering thriller written by one of my adjunct professors at University of Cincinnati: “Equilibrium” by Thomas Burns.
