Staff Spotlight: Aaron Deaton, PE

Aaron Deaton joins us from Royal Oak, Michigan. Read below to learn Aaron!

1. Favorite thing to do off the clock?

On a nice day I like to unwind with a bike ride or playing a round of disc golf with my friends.

2. Most prized possession/what you couldn’t live without (outside of family and friends)?

I don’t know what I would do without my collection of national park fridge magnets.

3. Meet my family.

I have two wonderful parents and a younger brother. I am also a dog dad to a pitt-rottweiler mix, Rusty.

4. What are your hobbies?

Being outdoors, backpacking, traveling, trying new food. When I have the time I like to get into woodworking projects.

5. What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?

Hiking up to + scaling Half Dome at Yosemite National Park with no harness! 4,500 ft of elevation in under a day.

6. If you weren’t in this profession, what would you be?

In another life I would be working as a filmmaker. I’ve participated in small film festivals + other projects.

7. What’s on your bucket list?

I would like to visit Europe. Places I’m interested in visiting first: Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium.

8. Fun fact about yourself.

I’ve recently starting making cider and mead at home.

9. What is a skill that you don’t have, but wish you did?

I would love to be fluent in Spanish. I’ve recently started lessons again.

10. What would you sing at karaoke?

You could probably convince me to sing if Lord Huron was playing.
