Schaefer took the 8th spot for the best structural engineering firm to work for in a national ranking, and 31st overall against both architecture and engineering firms. Many Schaefer employees have spent decades at the company, proving the firm’s quality culture, employee engagement and project diversification that help to retain employees. As Schaefer continues to grow, its firm leaders regularly consult stakeholders and employees as a whole to maintain its open, collaborative environment and employees’ satisfaction in what they do.
Firms were judged on professional development, culture, workplace practices, benefits and retention rates. The two-part submission included an initial overview of firm practices completed by firm representatives followed by an anonymous employee survey gauging how satisfied they were with each category.
Best Firms to Work For, a ranking system provided by Zwieg Group, began in 2001 and awards companies in the categories of structural engineering, architecture, civil engineers, environmental, multidiscipline and overall. For the complete ranking, visit the 2014 Awards page.
