The new three-story 50,000 sq ft steel-framed surgery center and medical office building is being designed for The Urology Group (TUG). The facility includes a mechanical basement and provisions for future second floor expansion. The design includes a concrete shell intended to house a Linear Accelerator with IMRT. Thickened elevated slabs at the 2nd floor accommodate the heavier load requirements of the X-ray and CT scan rooms, as well as aiding in the prevention of radiation transmission. The design-build team plans to achieve LEED Silver certification on TUG’s new center, which will have a white, heat reducing roof as well as other sustainable features.
