what inspired you to pursue structural engineering?
I had always wanted to be an architect for as far back as I can remember. This thought continued through high school and my first couple of years of college. It was actually my first co-op job, working in an engineering office, that really changed my mind. I changed my major to civil engineering, later focusing on building structures, and never looked back.
what is your specialty?
My first material specialty was steel. Having worked in the pre-engineered metal building industry prior to Schaefer for nearly 5 years, I became very comfortable with steel design. Since my start at Schaefer, I have been fortunate to design roller coaster foundations for larger rides in five different amusement parks. Expanding my foundation expertise, I now produce shop drawings and calculations for helical and micro-piles. I have also become proficient in commercial wood framing.
