Nate, our new controller, has joined our Cincinnati office.
1. Why did you choose to join Schaefer?
The first two things that attracted me to Schaefer were the people and the work. The culture is very inviting and a comfortable place to be. Additionally, instead of just fulfilling the role as “the numbers guy” who compiles financial results, Schaefer gives me the opportunity to be involved in several facets of the operation; from business improvement projects to employee activities to strategic planning for the organization, I get to participate in and expand the scope of the accounting function at Schaefer.
2. Fun fact about yourself.
I’m tall (6 ft 7 in). And the weather isn’t any different up here.
3. What would you sing at karaoke?
“LA Woman” by The Doors – it’s mostly instrumental which is probably a good thing for my audience.
4. Where are you from?
I grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana and I thought I might try my luck in Las Vegas, but after a few years of the dry, desert heat I missed rain, trees and the midwest. After a quick stop in Pensacola, Florida, I moved to Dayton, Ohio and then down to Cincinnati.
5. Favorite sports and teams.
I root for the Cleveland teams: Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.
6. What’s on your bucket list?
I plan to golf at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland and Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.
7. Favorite thing to do off the clock.
I enjoy golfing, watching/playing sports, spending time with friends and family, and eating.
8. What’s your signature dish to cook for family and friends?
I’m a breakfast fan and put much more effort into those dishes than others, so I’d have to say my sausage scramble is my specialty.
9. What’s your favorite day of the week?
Sundays are meant for football in the fall/winter and relaxing outdoors in the spring/summer.
10. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspirations have been my grandparents. I’ve been very lucky to have been able to spend extensive time with all four of them.
