Staff Spotlight: Margaret Milliken

Our team is growing! Meet Margaret, our new Staff Accountant.

1. Where are you from?

I am from Blue Ash, Ohio.

2. What’s your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is graduating on time from Xavier University with 150 credit hours, and qualifying for the CPA exam.

3. If I wasn’t a Staff Accountant I would be…

A math teacher. I have a love for numbers, and enjoy seeing people finally understand something they have struggled with and know that I helped them reach that point. Plus who doesn’t love pi day?

4. Why you chose to be a Staff Accountant.

I chose to be a Staff Accountant because it allows me to be involved in many aspects of a company instead of just one department. A firm’s finances affect and give me the opportunity to interact with everyone: leadership, human resources, marketing, project managers, and others.

5. Why you chose Schaefer.

I chose Schaefer because of the many opportunities to grow and learn, and the open, approachable culture.

6. My most prized possession (outside of family and friends).

My parents gave me a small ceramic angel when I was young and told me it was my guardian angel; I’ve kept it ever since.

7. What are your hobbies?

I like to sew and knit. I also love to be outside and go for walks and bike rides.

8. What’s your signature dish to cook for family and friends?

I learned how to make chicken parmesan in my eighth grade home ec class and have been making it ever since.

9. What would you do with $1 million?

I would buy a beach house on Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. I love the beach and this is one of my favorite spots to go on vacation.

10. What’s your favorite day of the week?

Sunday, because I can just relax and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
