Staff Spotlight: Lauren Lonce

We’ve recently filled a new position, Human Resources Manager. We’re excited to have Lauren on the team!

1. Where are you from?

Hartville, in Northeast Ohio – home of Hartville Hardware, America’s largest hardware store. Maybe you’ve heard of it?

2. Why you chose to work/live in Cincinnati.

I moved to Cincinnati to attend Xavier University and have stayed here ever since – this city is perfect for me because of the career opportunities, the great friends and network I’ve built here, and the music, art, and entertainment options mean I am never bored or at a loss for something to do any day of the week.

3. Favorite sports and teams.

Xavier Musketeers and Michigan State basketball get me through the winter; I’m looking forward to March Madness and the Crosstown Shootout.

4. What made you laugh the hardest in your entire life?

I’ve been told I laugh the hardest at my own jokes – but beyond that, I love a good stand-up comedy show in person or on Netflix, and Brew Ha-Ha downtown in the summer.

5. Favorite thing to do off the clock.

I love to eat – whether that’s trying new restaurants or trying new recipes.  On the weekend, I frequent downtown Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine; my go-tos are Christian Moerlein and Bakersfield, but there are plenty of new places I want to try. A few times a year I like to travel to visit some of my far away friends that are spread out from San Francisco to Washington DC.

6. What’s your signature dish to cook for family and friends?

Texas Caviar – it’s a pepper, bean and corn salsa dip, it’s simple to make, colorful, and always gets eaten.

7. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My dad, Craig, is my biggest inspiration; he taught me to work hard, be dedicated and diligent, and take good care of myself and my family.

8. What would you do with $1 million?

Retire. Just kidding! I may need to just invest that for a future college fund, and I’d love to have a house on the beach to share with my family.

9. Why you chose to be a talent acquisition manager.

I love the opportunity to make an impact by matching up what our leaders at Schaefer need to continue growing the business with great people who will thrive here. The best feeling for me is when we find the right person for a role, and they can come in, excel and become a part of this work family.

10. Why you chose Schaefer.

I chose to come to Schaefer because the mission and values align with the type of company I want to represent, the work we do is interesting to me, and the people who work here are welcoming, smart and dedicated.
