Buffalo HarborCenter | Buffalo, New York

Buffalo HarborCenterBuffalo, New Yorkentertain Schaefer was the Specialty Engineer of Record collaborating with wood supplier, Nordic Structures to design glulam and steel composite trusses that span over the 28,000 sq ft Buffalo Sabres practice hockey arena. A total of 8 trusses spaced 28.5 ft apart support the roof structure; the clear span is 140 ft. The top chord of each truss is approximately 31 in x 31 in glulam beams while the bottom chords are HSS 10x10 to allow for a more airy feel to the arena. This wood roof structure did not raise the construction cost on comparison to the originally designed steel frame structure. The 1,800 seat practice hockey arena is part of larger development, HarborCenter, a mixed-use [...]

Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium Flash Mob Video Display | Arlington, Texas

Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium Flash Mob Video DisplayArlington, Texasentertain Located at the east end of the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium on the main plaza level, the 132 ft wide by 13 ft tall video display hangs from the seating structure. In order not to block the natural lights streaming in through the 180 ft wide by 120 ft tall glass doors, the video display was broken into 40 panels 1 meter wide that individually rotate on a vertical axis. From a distance, the 90 degree rotated panels are barely noticeable. The stadium had the video display installed for enhanced game-time crowd interaction and experience. The video is programmed to sync with other video in the stadium during main events, but [...]

Kings Island Banshee | Mason, Ohio

Kings Island BansheeMason, Ohioentertain Banshee is the longest inverted coaster in the world with 7 inversions including a loop over the lift hill. It takes 32 riders in 3 trains up to 68 mph through 4,124 ft of inverted track. It climbs 167 ft and has a first drop of 150 ft. Schaefer designed the drilled pier and pier cap foundations and the ride station for Banshee at Kings Island. Due to the interference of existing underground structures from previous attractions, special concrete beams, pedestals and foundations had to be designed around several problem areas. Poor soils in some areas of the site necessitated much larger drilled piers. Schaefer designed over 200 drilled piers and pier caps to support the [...]
