what has been your most satisfying experience on the job?
My most satisfying experiences are designing structures right in my own community. Structural engineering is unique in that I can interact with my projects on a daily basis. For example, I had the opportunity to design Madeira Elementary and Middle Schools, which are the schools that my children attended.
what is your specialty?
At different times in my career I’ve focused on a variety of markets including education, office, healthcare, industrial, and distribution centers. However, as e-commerce has grown, my specialty has become the distribution/fulfillment center market. It’s a niche market with unique engineering challenges (for instance, 1+ million sq ft building footprints with 36-38 ft clear heights), so my experience and expertise brings value to the project team.
