what inspired you to pursue your current profession?
My passion to help people. The people are the most important part of a successful business. Throughout my career, I have worked in multiple lines of business in the for-profit and non-profit worlds; the one constant is you have to take care of your people in order to be successful. I enjoy learning about new industries and businesses and what makes them profitable. Understanding the business is key to being an impactful HR leader. I thrive on partnering with the business to create strategies to recruit, develop and grow the best talent, to engage and retain employees, and to challenge them on ways to think differently about what needs to be done to be successful in the future. The key to employee engagement is getting to know each individual for who they are – personally and professionally, what motivates them, why they stay at the company they are at and what would cause them to entertain an opportunity elsewhere. I truly enjoy getting to know each person and what makes them unique. Over my 19 years in HR, the field has evolved from a transactional department to a strategic business partner, and that is what I love doing every day.
