what has been your most satisfying experience on the job?
My most satisfying experiences have come from working with young engineers, watching as they develop their knowledge and skills. They are a fun, talented group. Schaefer’s future is in good hands.
what has been your favorite project?
With so many neat projects, it’s hard to pick a favorite. For new buildings, Marshall University’s Robert C. Byrd Biotechnology Science Center posed many design challenges including support for the complex HVAC system associated with a laboratory facility and connecting the 200 ft long pedestrian bridge to the existing science building. However, construction went very smoothly. For renovations, Marshall University’s Visual Arts Center stands out. It was extremely challenging to bring a 100+ year old building up to current code standards, but the finished product is extraordinary.
