Schaefer, a nationally recognized structural engineering firm, is seeking a business development manager to support the revenue generation initiatives of the firm in our Cincinnati headquarters. The business development manager position reports directly to the executive vice president of the firm and will immediately contribute to a forwarding thinking and ambitious marketing team. The successful candidate will work with a leadership team that nurtures an entrepreneurial spirit.

Scope of Work

  • Generate revenue for the firm through active and assertive business development practices
  • Take a targeted and methodical approach to successfully mine leads that produce project wins
  • Develop client relationships through networking and referrals to promote the business development activities of the firm
  • Support the firm in the identification of business development initiatives and opportunities in primary and secondary markets; develop and implement business plans based on the firm's annual plan
  • Partner with internal marketing staff to align business and marketing activities for the firm
  • Provide training and guidance to our internal client managers in all offices
  • Keep abreast of latest trends in the industry through professional networking, industry events, workshops and professional affiliations
  • Actively participate in the preparation and accountability of the firm's marketing budget
  • Lead the tracking and reporting of business development activities using Cosential, our CRM database

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies and successful business development processes, and leverage resources to optimize results
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years related experience; experience in a professional consulting services environment (architecture, engineering or construction) is preferred, but not required
  • Proven track record that demonstrates positions of increasing responsibility
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proven ability to gain alignment and generate enthusiasm across diverse organizations, groups and cultures involved such as internal staff and external clients
