Schaefer’s unifying culture is one of the reasons why it ranked as the third best structural engineering firm on Zweig Group’s Best Firms to Work For national ranking. Many Schaefer employees have spent decades at the company, proving the firm’s commitment to continuous improvement, employee engagement and project diversification that help to retain employees. As Schaefer continues to grow, its firm leaders regularly consult stakeholders and employees as a whole to maintain its open, collaborative environment and employee satisfaction in large, firm-wide decisions.

“It’s an honor to be named on this list,” said Jim Miller, Schaefer President. “Our leadership team’s doors are always open listening to what our people need to perform their best; we use that perspective in the choices we make. As we grow all three of our offices across the country, we always keep in mind what’s best for our most important resources, our staff. We’re thrilled to be recognized, as third in the nation, for what we do really well.”

Firms were judged on professional development, culture, workplace practices, benefits and retention rates. The two-part submission included an initial overview of firm practices completed by firm representatives followed by an anonymous employee survey gauging internal satisfaction of each category.

Best Firms to Work For, a ranking system provided by Zweig Group, awards companies in the categories of structural engineering, architecture, civil engineers, environmental, multidiscipline and overall. For the complete ranking, visit the 2016 Awards page.
