This week, Schaefer says goodbye to one of our most tenured employees, Ed Schwieter.

For the past 32 years, Ed has been an integral part of the Schaefer team. Joining Schaefer in 1985 as a production engineer with a few years of experience, he rose through the ranks leading projects and teams until becoming vice president, engineering. He has taken on the role of technical leader within the firm – staying up-to-date on overall industry and specific structural engineering issues.

“Ed has always been one of our best when it comes to technical engineering. If we have a complex structural engineering project, he almost always advises on it,” remarked Jim Miller, President. “He’s helped set our internal guidelines for continued education for our younger engineers and has been an official or unofficial mentor for most our staff. He has had a huge impact on Schaefer and is a big reason why we’re positioned as we are in our industry today. He will be missed.”

We wish Ed the best in his retirement and are grateful for the incredible work he has done. He’s ready to take on his next big adventure. Thanks for 32 great years!
