Schaefer’s Phoenix office, a part of the DWL Architects + Planners and Sundt Construction, Inc. Phoenix Canstruction team, took home the Structural Ingenuity Award for their “Rise Up Against Hunger” structure. The award is judged on innovative structural design, shown through complexity and stability, but also must score well in categories that almost all of Phoenix Canstruction’s awards are critiqued on: first impression, label usage, and ability to make a balanced meal with the canned food in the structure. This is Schaefer’s second year participating in Phoenix Canstruction (with more to come); Schaefer’s two Ohio offices have donated monetarily or with creative structural engineering designs to their local Canstruction events for many years.
